Comments: Mission Heights School is a brand new primary & junior school commissioned by the Ministry of Education. To encourage students to ride bikes in lieu of motorised transport, the school required a large bike shed. With the structure located in a prominent position, the architect was looking for an architecturally inspiring & soft structure to break the predominant hard lines of the dominant school buildings. After exploring numerous design options, the architect settled on the completed design. A split barrel vault design, with twin pitches and soft scalloped catenary edges.
